The Onboarding process is an integral first step of a Slingshot partnership as we engage with various departments and stakeholders on your campus to ensure a smooth transition. Please use this website and subsequent timelines to gauge your team’s involvement and to plan for completion of necessary milestones. Slingshot is an Ed Tech company in the pursuit of better. It is our goal to remove friction from course materials for students and your campus. We place high value on our partnerships while we work to solve a problem together: course materials are expensive and often hard to obtain by the first day of class. Student success and course material affordability have always been a driving force for us as we continue to hone our subscription service model in the ever-changing landscape of course materials. The baseline of which we measure success is all students, all materials, by the first day of class, at an affordable price.
An institution may choose to partner with Slingshot for a variety of reasons, but our top benefits include:
Affordability – Students save an average of 50% off list price for all course materials.
Market Share – Slingshot has an average of 97.5% market share for schools using the Premium program and 74% market share for schools using the choice program.
On Time – 99% of course materials provided through the Slingshot program are delivered on time, by the start of class. This means that students are prepared and faculty can begin teaching from the first day of the term.
Retention – We have seen an average of 8% increase in student retention across our Slingshot partners.
It is our desire at Slingshot to have as smooth and cohesive transition as possible. We don’t have a cookie-cutter approach to partnerships and we want to get to know what makes your campus unique so that we can serve your students well. We also want to be sure that everyone on your campus gets to know who we are and understands our approach to serving your students through a course material subscription and other campus services. We want to spend time with all of your stakeholders and provide you with the resources you need for a successful launch on campus.
Slingshot has an onboarding team that specializes in overseeing the partnership transition. We’ll work together to establish an onboarding timeline and makes sure we are maintaining all aspects of the partnership launch - This includes training, Q&A, communication timelines and example content. We meet with various stakeholders from your campus including representatives from IT, Academic Leadership, Marketing, Admissions and Enrollment, Residence Life, Student Accounts, and Store and Mailroom staff where applicable to ensure everyone has all their questions answered and we’re keeping the big picture in mind.
As you begin the onboarding process, we will work together to set a timeline, meeting agendas, and milestones for each audience we meet with. The timing of these checkpoints and the completion of each milestone is dependent on various factors, but we work hard to fit the scope of this work within the required timeline from signed contract date to the initial term start date. We’d love to have 10-12 weeks to accomplish this, but can adapt as needed.
We’ll ask for a variety of information from your teams (student and course data, brand standards, logos, communication plans, orientation dates), but most of this is isolated to the initial launch. Beyond that, we ask that you continue to inform your students regularly about what Slingshot offers and keep us in the loop on ways that we can serve your students better.
